Benefits of singing for baby

There is a wide amount of research suggesting that music has a lot of other benefits in the brain, as Kidshealth.org, one of the most well known parenting websites says: “Children who grow up hearing music, singing songs, and moving to the beat are enjoying what experts call "a rich sensory environment." That's just a fancy way of saying a child is exposed to a wide variety of tastes, smells, textures, colors, and sounds. And kids who enjoy such a rich environment do more than have fun. Researchers believe they forge more pathways between the cells in their brains.” The music also does not have to be complex, and you do not have to be a good singer! Your child will love you singing to them, even if you feel you are completely tone deaf. So start singing, you don’t have to do anything complex! You can sing any old nursery rhymes or songs, and you can even make up your own songs, to match what you are doing at the time. For me, when I put Hyzyd to bed when he's still a

Improve family communications

Faulty communications cause innumerable problems. This is especially true in the home. In fact, one of the first steps to improve family relationships is to improve family communications. Family members need to talk meaningfully to each other every day, to show an interest in each other, to give constant understanding and approval, and to share and accept one another's feelings. Each member also needs to be given a say in family matters. When this is done, practical compromises—the oil for smooth family living—can be worked out. Communication, of course, goes two ways. It involves not only talking but listening creatively; that is, listening to the real message behind the words. Sometimes family members will say one thing when they mean another. For example, Dave asks June, his wife, if she'd like to go out for dinner. June is tired and doesn't want to go, but feels Dave might be hurt if she says no. So she agrees. Then she feels resentful because Dave didn't know how s

correct your child

You're destroying your child's motivation and self-esteem when you allow them to think they don't have to work for anything because it's 'owed' to them. The story's told of a telemarketer who phoned a house, saying: 'I'd like to talk to the person who makes the final purchasing decisions for the family.' The woman replied, 'I'm sorry, that person is still at kindergarten and won't be home for another hour.' Cute story, but not so cute when it is reality. Parent, love your child, provide them with opportunity and a secure home environment, but teach them to be responsible. This sounds like a no-brainer; so why don't we do it? 1) Misguided love. We say, 'My kids shouldn't have to struggle like I did.' Your children interpret that kind of indulgence as lack of interest; you taking the easy way out. As a result their demands increase because what they're really saying is, 'I don't really want more stuff, I

welcome and goodbye

I forgot to post before the first time Hyzyd met his grandparents (my parents) last October 2009. They tagged along our youngest, Doxa. We met them at Hatyai International Airport. Saying goodbye is the hardest of all. We miss them so much.

Happy 16th months Hyzyd!

My Everdearest baby, You're always my baby even if you're already 16 months old. Happy 16th months my son! The moment I laid my eyes on you, I can't help it but cry with joy. You're one of the greatest gifts God has entrusted upon us. I promise myself to be the best mom for you. You mean so much to me. You give more meaning to my life. Your smile erases my weariness and worries. Your laughter means a sweet music to my ear that soothe my soul. Your cry touches my heart that as I reach out for you, it's my prayer that I'll always be there for you. You're the prince of my life, the best son of your dad and the cuddly angel of your grandparents, titos and titas. I love you so much. It is my prayer that God will empower me to teach you His ways and the mom you'll be proud of. It is my daily prayer that God will give you the best in this life and you'll grow up into a fine young man leading a righteous and upright life. I'm proud to be your mommy. I lo

will be a mom of two at the right time

my hubby, son Hyzyd, HJ my niece and me Hyzyd is almost 16 months. My friends asked me if I'm ready to be a mom of two. I think I'm not yet ready. You see, though physically I feel strong to bear a baby for the second time, I still need at least two years to take care of my first baby properly and then prepare myself in every aspect for the second one. Having a toddler already and then a new born (not to mention that I'm a working mom) will only make things difficult for me and the children. Also, my Hyzyd will not feel as neglected if he is old enough to understand that a second baby is coming and needs attention. We want also to make sure we have enough finances to support a second baby. Doctor visits, baby products, health supplements, medicines, medicare supplements , etc. can burn quite a hole in our pocket. So we make sure we are financially sound to have a second child. Also, we plan soundly for the future keeping both the kids in mind. We will need to fish out a goo

New Cellphone for Toddlers

Would you buy your toddler a cell phone? Don't you know that a mobile phone for toddlers is being launched in Asia ( it's not clearly stated on where in Asia? ). Here's a picture at right. The big-buttoned phone allows parents to program in the numbers of up to 200 friends, and those of mom and dad, before handing the cute device over to the tyke. I probably wouldn't get this for my toddler, but he does already know how to use mine! He already knew how to play the mp3 and stop it and usually erased my contact numbers! LOL! Try to lock the keypad and he'll throw it back to you...LOL! And ladies, he's only 16 months so I don't actually think this is so far-fetched. He could have my phone..he..he... Where's daddy's number? Hello Daddy? Are you on your way now? Please take care in your driving. I love you! Yes, daddy. I'm always a good boy. You can ask mom if you want?

our adventure with video slot machine

Tiredness and Hyzyd's health condition put the kibosh on our plan to visit the Lantern festival in Hatyai City Municipal Park. We contented ourselves playing educational games on video slot machines. Hyzyd loves to touch the screen so we enjoyed playing "Picture Hiding" and "Vocabulary". It's my first time to play this kind of game coz I thought I won't be able to understand the game because of it's Thai script. I was wrong. They have lots of educational games in English! We really enjoyed our weekend. We enjoyed having our photos taken as one of the TOP 5 winners!

hyzyd's encounter with the elephant

Here in Hatyai City, you could see elephants roaming around with their guide, of course for business purpose. Last week was my first experience to feed an elephant with sugarcane. You'll pay $20 baht per bag of food. You could also ride on the elephant but I don't have enough guts at that time. I don't ask the fee if you decided to ride on the elephant for photo-taking. Here we are with Hyzyd feeding the elephant. We spent about 40 baht because the elephant is a voracious eater! It consumed the food in just a flash! Too bad, we're not able to bring our camera but at least we have the snapshot to remember.

displaying Christian faith through Christian t-shirts

Whenever the church where we fellowship has special celebration like the church's anniversary or Christmas , they will distribute free Christian T-Shirts to members like the one I received below: Wearing Christian T-shirts is one way of displaying your faith proudly. While some of your friends might be uncomfortable with someone wearing Christian clothing, this still opens up many great opportunities for conversation. Wearing something that provokes a question is an excellent way to start a conversation. Wearing Christian T-Shirts is also a great way to re-affirm your faith, for many reasons. From picking out the perfect t-shirt in the store, to selecting the right one to wear today, Christian clothes in your wardrobe serve as a comforting reminder of God's love and all that He has given you. Not to mention how wonderful it feels to have that physical reminder of being clothed in God's love. Additionally, once your friends are more comfortable about your Christian attire,

importance of getting health insurance for Hyzyd

Living here in Thailand is not quite easy for us. Language barrier is the main issue here. Because of this factor, we're not yet able to get a health insurance for our Hyzyd. I need to ask our minister's wife who speaks English fluently if she could help us find a Healthcare Insurance providers here in Thailand that caters the expatriate community or a family healthcare insurance like offered by Connecticut Health Insurance . There is a wide choice of quality health insurance plans for individuals and families from most of the leading health insurance companies in Connecticut. The premiums for private medical insurance policies are all standardized and filed with the Connecticut Insurance Department. This means all agencies must quote the same rates. It is suggested that private insurance holders review their policy rate every 18 months. What I like about them is their Husky Plan intended to assist all children who don’t have health insurance. I wish they also have like that he

Pumpkin seeds

Hyzyd got a new favorite snack! Guess what? Pumpkin seeds! Pumpkin seeds provide many health benefit. Here are ten: 1. Prostate Protection They promote overall prostate health and alleviate the difficult urination associated with an enlarged prostate. 2. Improved Bladder Function In some studies, pumpkin seed extracts improved bladder function in animals. 3. Depression Treatment They contain L-tryptophan, a compound naturally effective against depression. 4. Green

Last night I changed our bed sheet to green. I like green because it signifies growth, renewal, health, and environment. I noticed that Hyzyd is also wearing his green sleeveless shirt and he's playing with his stuffed pig toy . valentine's day of Hyzyd

Our initial plan to visit the Lantern Festival and the ice dome on the 13th of February was not push through. We forget that it's the Filipino team who will lead the Praise and Worship on Sunday where my hubby is the drummer and my bro is the lead guitarist. They need to practice on Saturday night. I don't have the choice but to abort the initial plan. Here's Hyzyd on Valentine's Day wearing his new Sunday clothes we bought on Friday night. At church Hyzyd received a gift from the church. Our Valentine's Day won't be complete without a family photo. an entry for :
