Couples Corner: on Shopping

We all gotta shop, but how we shop, and why we shop, varies. I should say my shopping habit stays the same before and after marriage.I love to shop cheap things, maybe because I don't have much to spend...he..he... I could only get designer clothes when they're on sale (as if I live for sales!?!). I felt guilty when I spend too much for a "not-so-important" item. Maybe it's the tendency of the eldest of 13 siblings, you always think about your younger brothers and sisters. You wanted to give something when they're in need. That's why I'm thrifty and like to save money. I keep an eye on prices. Even if I like a certain item and the price is way above my budget, I won't buy it. Brand names are not that important to me. I know how to have style without collecting designer tags:)

My fave hangout before is at "Puer Thai". It's a big flea market in Hatyai City which opens every Thursday to Sunday. This is where I bought my inexpensive school dress and school shoes. I usually chooses secondhand clothes with tags still attached to them. With my 500 baht, I could get already 3-5 pairs of school dresses. That's why in school you can't see me wearing the same clothes in 3 months! I usually give my dresses to my friends and church mates after every 3 months.

That acquired habit changes when I married Mr. J. He didn't like the idea of acquiring lots of dresses where I haven't used some and were just piled and stocked in our wardrobe. He asked me to only retain my fave clothes and those that I find useful and what remains will be given to the poor and needy. That's why I still have 3 sacks of clothes waiting to be disposed this Christmas season.

My hubby is a very picky shopper and tend to be loyal to a few brands-Levi's, Jag (we don't have it here) and Penshoppe . He found in here the equivalent to Penshoppe items- FQ & L. He is willing to pay extra to buy from a brand he can trust. He owns many designer items. He could also find designer items in flea market but it takes time for him coz he scrutinize every part of a shoes, T-shirt or even shorts! He's isn't like me who seek out sales unless it's a sale at his favorite store- FQ & L (most of the time)!
On the other hand, I do agree with my hubby. Maybe I should switch from being a discount shopper to a loyal shopper once in a while depending on our budget.

Most of the time, you could see us shopping together for groceries! he..he...

Thanks for joining this week's Meme. See you again next time.

Mommy Moments-Why Hyzvhann Hyzydyll?

The name of our son is Hyzvhann Hyzydyll (read as Hezvan Hezedel). Many are wondering how did we get the name, what does it mean and how to read it. Some jokingly commented that maybe I hate the vowels and some named him the consonant baby...he..he..he. The name was given by his grandfather (my father). We told him that it will be an honor for us if he could give the name of their first grandson. Actually, my father is the one who give us our names-from the eldest (it's me) 'till the 14th child (our youngest). We all have two given names like me I'm named after the combination of my parent's name-Benoni and Geneditha. The result is "Genebei" plus their chosen name for me, Faith = Genebei Faith . I noticed that all of us had great and unique names especially our youngest which is named Doxagennes Keilah . Each of our names has corresponding meanings. Hyzvhann is a modified name of the hebrew vocabulary Heshvan (Cheshvan). Heshvan (Cheshvan) or Mar Cheshvan ...

Hyzyd and the Berenstains' Bears

Hyzyd got new favorites week after week. Most of his favorites involves books. He's not really into toys and movies but books! This week he's into a new book titled "The Berenstain Bears and the Big Red Kite". Guess who's his favorite reader? His dad! He won't let me read it to him. Poor mommy!:( On the other, I'm quite relieved because Hyzyd is giving his dad a hard task...he..he...He won't let his dad go over to other pages. He wanted his dad to create stories after stories out from this illustration for as long as 30 minutes! LOL! I also enjoy the stories made up by his dad- stories that came from "out-of-nowhere". can you help us make more more stories out from this illustration? It seems that we're running out of ideas...LOL! an entry for
