correct your child

You're destroying your child's motivation and self-esteem when you allow them to think they don't have to work for anything because it's 'owed' to them. The story's told of a telemarketer who phoned a house, saying: 'I'd like to talk to the person who makes the final purchasing decisions for the family.' The woman replied, 'I'm sorry, that person is still at kindergarten and won't be home for another hour.' Cute story, but not so cute when it is reality. Parent, love your child, provide them with opportunity and a secure home environment, but teach them to be responsible. This sounds like a no-brainer; so why don't we do it?

1) Misguided love. We say, 'My kids shouldn't have to struggle like I did.' Your children interpret that kind of indulgence as lack of interest; you taking the easy way out. As a result their demands increase because what they're really saying is, 'I don't really want more stuff, I want you!'

2) Low expectations. As a parent you owe your children a chance to excel in life. Don't rob them of the fulfillment that comes from working hard to improve their grades, clean their room and earn their way.

3) Guilt. We all feel bad about not spending enough time with our kids, or having failed them. One seventeen-year-old told her dad that he 'owed' her a car. And she got it! Why? Because her parents were divorced and Dad felt bad about 'letting her down.' Don't try to buy your child's affection, you'll only end up paying later. God corrects His children; you need to correct yours!

Mommy Moments- Hyzyd's playing time

Aside from playing by himself , Hyzyd's fave playmates are his dad and his uncle Bjoy-my bro. He's enjoying every minute of it! Last July 4, 2008, it's Hyzyd's first time exploring the toys in TESCO play station! It isn't yet time for him to play in there for it's recommended for 1 year old and above but he's gesturing to his dad that he want to try on! What a fun he had! We bought that green elephant because the first time he saw it and try on it, he just love it. He will not let go of the poor elephant. You'll see he's riding on it while we're shopping. Head on to Mommy Moments to see other kids enjoying their playing time!

Mommy Moments-Why Hyzvhann Hyzydyll?

The name of our son is Hyzvhann Hyzydyll (read as Hezvan Hezedel). Many are wondering how did we get the name, what does it mean and how to read it. Some jokingly commented that maybe I hate the vowels and some named him the consonant baby...he..he..he. The name was given by his grandfather (my father). We told him that it will be an honor for us if he could give the name of their first grandson. Actually, my father is the one who give us our names-from the eldest (it's me) 'till the 14th child (our youngest). We all have two given names like me I'm named after the combination of my parent's name-Benoni and Geneditha. The result is "Genebei" plus their chosen name for me, Faith = Genebei Faith . I noticed that all of us had great and unique names especially our youngest which is named Doxagennes Keilah . Each of our names has corresponding meanings. Hyzvhann is a modified name of the hebrew vocabulary Heshvan (Cheshvan). Heshvan (Cheshvan) or Mar Cheshvan ...

Mommy Moments-Rain, Rain Go Away!

It seldom rains here and when it rains Hyzyd doesn't have a chance to witness the rain coz we just stay in our bedroom, play, watch movie and sleep! For the sake of this meme ( LOL!), I prayed for rain to come and I'll let my baby witness the outpouring of the rain...Heaven heard my prayer and it came right after we came from school. We watched the heavy rain on our balcony and the baby enjoyed it. It's not yet time for my baby to play under the rain . Enjoy reading other entries about kiddos desire to let the rain go away coz " little Johnny " wants to play at Mommy Moments !
