After Hyzyd got sick last month, we visited his pedia for his another dose of vaccine. The pedia advised me to add more fats and oils to Hyzyd's diet coz he's underweight. He only weighed 8.8 kg at that time and the standard weight of a toddler his age is 10 kg. It makes me really worried and part of that to be blamed is ME! You see, I prepared healthy food for his diet with all the veggies and fruits and fish but I seldom prepares chicken meat on his food and never added on his diet any oily and fatty foods for Hyzyd! I thought fats and oils is bad for him.
I now know that young children need plenty of fats in their diets. I now stir-fry his veggies in sunflower oil than boiling or steaming them.I prepared fried rice too. I add almond butter to bread (a higher fat content than peanut butter) , cream cheese to mashed potatoes , olive oil to vegetables , carnation instant breakfast to protein shakes (toddler's love the taste!).
Last time we checked, Hyzyd already weighs 9.6 kg. I really prayed that he'll gain more weight. He used to be a chubby baby. His appepite is revived already after he got sick. He drinks milk 3 times a day ( 1 in the morning, 1 in the afternoon and 1 before going to bed) and though he take his nap only once a day, his nap will take about 3-4 hours.
